Rachel Entrekin named #4 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Rachel Entrekin comes in at 4th place in the women’s UROY voting. She had a dominant 2025 season, with victories at the Badger Mountain Challenge 100-miler, Whiskey Basin 91k and more. At the Cocodona 250 in May, she became the only person to win back-to-back championships, setting a course record of 63 hours and 51 minutes and earning the nickname, “CocoQueen.” She finished fourth overall – a significant jump from her 11th-place overall finish in 2024.

David Roche named #4 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

David Roche is the 4th-ranked man for 2025 UROY. He defended his Leadville Trail 100 title and broke the record he had set the previous year, running the course in 15:12:30. This came after a disappointing DNF at the Western States 100 in June 2025, where he dropped at mile 62, and then bounced back remarkably at Leadville in August. Roche placed second at the Javelina 100-miler in October with a time of 12:18:06. He also won the Quad Rock 50-mile and Cheyenne Mountain 50k.

Megan Eckert named #5 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Megan Eckert ranked 5th for the women in 2025 UROY. She achieved an extraordinary feat in May by setting a new women’s 6-day world record at the GOMU 6-Day World Championship in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, France, covering 603.155 miles. Eckert became the first woman in history to surpass 600 miles in a 6-day race, averaging more than 100 miles per day. Her performance shattered the previous record of 560.33 miles set by Camille Herron by more than 40 miles, and also earned the Performance of the Year in the UROY voting.

Hans Troyer named #5 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Hans Troyer is the 5th-ranked man in the 2025 UROY balloting. He had a breakthrough year, highlighted by winning the venerable JFK 50 with the second-fastest time in race history. He also won the Bandera 50k and Way Too Cool 50k, and finished second at The Canyons by UTMB 100k, which earned him entry into Western States with a Golden Ticket. At his first 100-mile race, the legendary Western States 100, Troyer placed 8th overall with a time of 16:06:52.

Tara Dower named #6 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Tara Dower is ranked 6th among the women’s UROY voting. Dower’s year was highlighted by her win at the Javelina 100-miler in 13:31:47, breaking Camille Herron’s previous course record by more than 30 minutes. She also won the Lake Sonoma 50 and finished in second place at the Black Canyon 100k. That finish earned her a Golden Ticket to Western States in June, where she began the race but had to drop out due to an illness.

Seth Ruhling named #6 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Seth Ruhling placed 6th among the men in the 2025 UROY voting. In February, he won the Black Canyon Ultras 100k in Arizona with a course record time of 7:24:55, breaking Hayden Hawk’s previous record by over 5 minutes. He executed a brilliant tactical race, taking the lead at the penultimate checkpoint and earning a Western States 100 Golden Ticket for his efforts. Two months later in April, he followed up with a victory at The Canyons by UTMB 50k, finishing in 3:24:34. He then placed sixth at Western States in his 100-mile debut with a time of 14:59:36.

Jade Belzberg named #7 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Belzberg had an impressive 2025 season, highlighted by her victory at the JFK 50 Mile in November, where she finished in 6:07:53, the fourth-fastest women’s time in race history. Earlier in the year, she won the Chuckanut 50k in March with a time of 4:22:40. In April, Belzberg placed second at the highly competitive Gorge Waterfalls 100k. She also won the Squamish 50k and the Tillamook Burn 50-miler.

Riley Brady named #7 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Riley Brady and Jade Belzberg tied for 7th place in the women’s voting for 2025. Riley Brady had an exceptional 2025 season, winning the Black Canyon 100k in February and setting a course record by nearly 30 minutes. After a DNF at Western States 100 in June, Brady won the Run Rabbit Run 100 in September, further cementing their status as one of the top ultrarunners in the sport. Brady also set a course record while winning the Quad Rock 50.

Chris Myers named #7 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Chris Myers is ranked 7th in the men’s UROY voting. He had an exceptional 2025 season, with his biggest achievement being a second-place finish at the Western States 100, crossing the line in 14:17:39 – the fourth-fastest time in the race’s history. Earlier in 2025, Myers won the Chuckanut 50k and placed third at the Lake Sonoma 50.

Will Murray named #8 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Will Murray was ranked 8th among the men for 2025. Murray had a breakthrough year in 2025, highlighted by his course-record-breaking victory at the Javelina Jundred 100-miler in Arizona, where he finished in 12:10:12. Earlier in the year, he placed second at the Black Canyon 100k in February with a time of 7:26:53, earning a Golden Ticket to the 2025 Western States 100. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury in the spring and had to withdraw from Western States. In August, he set a course record at the Grand Traverse Mountain Run 40-miler in Colorado, winning in 5:36:27.

Mathieu Blanchard named #9 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Mathieu Blanchard checks in at #9 for the men in the UROY voting. Blanchard won the Yukon Arctic Ultra, completing the grueling 625k race in just over 7 days and 22 hours. Following this victory in the extreme cold of the Canadian north, he returned to the ultra-trail circuit and finished second at the Ultra-Trail Snowdonia 100k in Wales in May. He also finished second at Ultra-Trail Harricana du Canada 125k in June as well as the Hardrock 100 in July, and won the Barkley Fall Classic 50k in September.

Careth Arnold named #9 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Careth Arnold is the 9th ranked woman for 2025. She became the first American to win TDS at UTMB, completing the challenging 95-mile course through the Italian and French Alps in just under 23 hours. Following her TDS victory, Arnold won the Hurricane 100k in West Virginia just 10 days later. Earlier in the summer, she placed second at the High Lonesome 100 in Colorado and also competed at the Canyons 100k, finishing fifth.

David Sinclair named #10 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

David Sinclair checks in at 10th in the men’s UROY voting. Sinclair had a strong 2025 ultrarunning season with a second-place finish at the prestigious UTMB CCC and also placed second at both the Broken Arrow Skyrace 46k and the JFK 50 Mile. Sinclair also competed at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships, finishing 20th in the Short Trail 45k.

Courtney Dauwalter named #10 2025 UltraRunner of the Year

Courtney Dauwalter is the 10th ranked woman in the UROY voting for 2025. She won the 74.5-mile Lavaredo Ultra Trail in Italy – perhaps Europe’s second most important ultra after UTMB – finishing in just over 14 hours. She set a course record at Arizona’s Crown King Scramble 50k in March, and attempted the Cocodona 250 in May but dropped out despite leading through 108 miles. Dauwalter then competed at UTMB in August, where she led at the midway point before struggling in the second half, ultimately finishing 10th in a race marked by difficult weather conditions.

Katie Schide named 2024 Worldwide UltraRunner of the Year

Katie Schide is the women’s 2024 World UltraRunner of the Year. Schide won both of the world’s most competitive trail races – UTMB and Western States – and set a course record in her win at UTMB. Her winning time at Western States was the second-fastest in race history. She also won the highly competitive Canyons by UTMB 100k. A native of Maine, Schide lives in Isola, Alps-Maritimes, France, with her partner, French ultrarunner Germain Grangier.

Matthieu Bonne named 2024 Worldwide UltraRunner of the Year

Matthieu Bonne is the men’s 2024 World UltraRunner of the Year. Bonne set a new men’s six-day record of 1045.519k (649.655 miles) at the GOMU-EMU 6-day at Balatonfüred, Hungary, breaking the 2005 record held by the legendary Yiannis Kouros. He set a Belgian 24-hour record in Trasna Na Uaireanta in Ireland, posting a total of 275.25k (171.03 miles). In addition to setting world records as an ultrarunner, Bonne is a record-setting endurance cyclist and open-water swimmer, and lives in the town of Bredene on the Belgian coast.

Hayden Hawks named #2 2024 Worldwide UltraRunner of the Year

Hayden Hawks is second in the balloting for the men’s World UltraRunner of the Year. The former Southern Utah University track star won Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix (CCC) 101k in the Alps. This was a highlight in a year that also saw a close third-place finish at Western States 100 and a course-record win at Black Canyon 100k in Arizona. Hawks lives in Canyon City, Utah, with his wife, Ashley, and their two children.
